Executive Summary
National ICT Outreach
Scholarship Program is being run on cost sharing basis between the
National ICT R&D Fund and the Federal Government under PSDP allocation.
In the year 2007,
National ICT R&D Fund has offered the outreach scholarships to 390
students.These students were enrolled in the ICT
related degree programs of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering
Sciences and Technology, National University of Computer and Emerging
Sciences (FAST-NU) and NUST Institute of Information Technology (NIIT).
In the Phase-II of
the Outreach Scholarships Program, the National ICT R&D Fund awarded fully
funded scholarships to the successful students from the Boot Camps of
Phase -I. In the year 2007, 40 successful students belonging to the
non-metropolitan areas of the North West Frontier Province and its
associated Tribal areas were enrolled in the undergraduate programs
offered at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and
Technology.
National ICT R&D Fund
has funded the fully paid scholarships to all these students. The average
scholarship amount is approximately Rs.1.3 million per student for the
period of four years.
