Executive Summary
The Human
Machine Interface (HMI) is the aggregate of means by which the
users
interact
with a particular
machine,
device,
computer
program or other complex
tool
(the
system).
HMI refers to the
‘layer’ that separates a human that is operating a machine from
the machine itself.
HMI enables us to
control the industry in a real time manner. HMI communicates with
Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units using industry standard
communication protocol called ‘OLE for Process Control’ (OPC).
HMI based
Industrial Automation is absolutely necessary where strict
monitoring and control measures are required.
The aim of this
project is to have a locally developed real time, standardized,
mission critical and scalable HMI. It also aims to produce enough
local experts who can develop and support the product within local
resources. This software can be implemented in all the industries
where there is a critical demand of monitoring and controlling the
machines and processes in real time fashion. Future export of such
product will provide additional commercial / economic benefits.
The key benefits
of this project are given below:
-
This software
will save foreign exchange and also has a huge export potential
to neighboring and developing countries.
-
The product will
certainly benefit the customers by having affordable cost, high
reliability and security.
-
The package will
have capability to link to various PLCs and controllers.
-
Some of the
important industries facilitated, will be Textile Industry,
Sugar Mills, Cement Plants, Flour and Grain Mills, Oil and Gas
exploration plants etc. .
-
The end users
will have a reliable, affordable product that will give them
flexibility and more control.
