MoU Signing Ceremony between National ICT R&D Fund, FAST-NU and CureMD to
Jointly Develop Next-Generation Knowledge-Aware Intelligent Clinical Decision Support System
Islamabad, 3 July 2009: A Memorandum of Understanding has been inked between National
University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) Research
Center nexGIN RC, CureMD and National ICT R&D Fund with the
aspiration
to collaborate for providing accumulated industrial expertise in
order to develop an intelligent Clinical Decision Support
System. The MoU was signed by Dr.
Qasim Sheikh, CEO National ICT R& D Fund, Bilal Hashmat, CEO
CureMD and Dr. Amir Muhammad, Rector NUCES. The signing ceremony
was also attended by other senior officials from the three
organizations.
According to the MoU,
CureMD will offer the technical expertise for their
developed Electronic Health Records System, providing
de-identified medical records of the patients without disclosing
their personal information solely for research and development
of Clinical Decision Support Systems.
National ICT
R&D Fund (Ministry of IT & Telecom) will help this initiative by
facilitating funding for the collaboration, once the proposal is
approved through the evaluation process of ICTRDF, which might
be jointly submitted by CureMD and nexGIN RC.
Correspondingly, NUCES Research Center will duly acknowledge
CureMD as an organizational partner and National ICT R&D Fund
for its support on its website.
CureMD will be the first organization to launch the
established product of “Intelligent Clinical Decision Support
System” and both parties (CureMD and nexGIN RC NUCES) as joint
co owners shall have an exclusive, perpetual, royalty free,
world wide right to market, develop, test and internally use the
established product and intellectual property rights (IPR) on a
revenue sharing formula mutually agreed by CureMD and nexGIN RC.
The MoU between CureMD, nexGIN RC NUCES and
National ICT R&D Fund proposes dynamic e-health solutions to
medical practice in Pakistan. Once developed and implemented, it
can significantly improve efficiency in health care delivery,
improved quality of care, and improved patient safety.
National ICT R&D Fund (Ministry of IT & Telecom) remains

facilitate high-quality ICT initiative by providing funding
opportunities to concrete ICT related R&D proposals.
