MoU Signing Ceremony between FAST-NU and Phonecast (Pvt) Ltd. to Provide Industrial Expertise to Develop Remote Patient Monitoring System with focus on Antenatal Care

Islamabad, July 30, 2009: A Memorandum of Understanding has been inked between National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) research center nexGIN RC, and Phonecast (Pvt) Ltd (CallDoc) with the aspiration to collaborate for providing accumulated industrial expertise in order to develop Remote Patient Monitoring System with focus on Antenatal Care. The MoU was signed by Dr. Ayub Alvi, Dean NUCES, Islamabad and Mr. Abdullah Butt, CEO PhoneCast (Pvt) Ltd (CallDoc) The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr.Talib Baloch, Managing Director of Pakistan Software Export Board, Dr. Muddassar Farooq, Director NexGIN RC, Dr. Qasim Sheikh, CEO National ICT R&D Fund and other senior officials from these organizations.

According to the MoU, CallDoc will provide the technical expertise for Call Handling and Call Recording and provide de-identified medical records of the patients and online presentations of its own Electronic Health Record system as per agreed terms and conditions.

Correspondingly, nexGIN RC will provide CallDoc the prototype of “Remote Patient Monitoring Sensors’ Box” at subsidized costs for deployment and field testing. On the basis of outcome of the field evaluation, both parties might decide to formally enter into a joint business venture decided in due course of time.

“Remote Patient Monitoring System with focus on Antenatal Care for Rural Population” is a funded project of National ICT R&D Fund (Ministry of IT & Telecom) which once developed and implemented can significantly improve efficiency in health care delivery in the rural areas.
