National ICT Scholarship Program (NICTSP) of National ICT
R&D Fund is a recognized scholarship program providing access to
the deserving and talented youth from rural marginalized areas
to pursue their undergraduate degrees in ICT related
disciplines.
Though talented, these students face difficulty in
communication skills especially in English language. In order to
bring these students at par with other students of urban
background, SEECS-NUST arranged a three week intensive course
with the objective of imparting English language reading,
writing and verbal communication skills to these scholarship
award holders. It also aimed at the broader approach to manifest
positive attitude by giving awareness classes for self
actualization so as to reinforce the student’s moral strength.
The students were appreciative and grateful for the efforts of
their teachers and their positive attitude towards them.
Dr. Qasim Sheikh, CEO National ICT R&D Fund expressed his
gratitude to Lt. General Muhammad Asghar for taking personal
interest in the improvement of these students from rural areas
by taking this initiative. On this occasion, Lt. General
Muhammad Asghar emphasized that taking sincere interest in the
development and character building of students is not a favor
rather it is the duty of academic institutions. He highlighted
that improving communication skills is one of the steps to
develop quality of skills, conduct and positive attitude amongst
the students.
National
ICT R&D Fund was thankful to SEECS-NUST for taking this
initiative to provide this opportunity to National ICT
Scholarship Award holders of rural marginalized areas to improve
their communication skills in order to be at par with other
students.
