Islamabad – October 3rd, 2011 – National ICT R&D Fund, an
organization committed to research and development in
information and communication technologies with the vision to
transform Pakistan’s economy into knowledge based economy held a
simple ceremony to distribute 710 student kits among three
charitable organizations i.e. SOS Village, Read Foundation and
Faiz-ul-Islam. Ms. Hoor Fatima, Director SOS Village, Group
Captain (Retd) Pervaiz Akhtar from Faizal-Ul-Islam and Mr. Afzal
Ahmad, Director, Donations, Read Foundation attended the event
besides introducing their respective organizations.
Mr. Fawad
Younus, Program Head National ICT Scholarship Program (NICTSP)
while briefing the audience on salient aspects of the
scholarship program said that these kits are primarily prepared
for students from underserved areas taking entrance exams of
different ICT related graduate programs of engineering
universities under. Each kit contains; stationary items,
notebook and student guide on preparing MCQ based entrance exams
comprising Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Computer
Science.
Speaking on the
occasion Ms. Hoor Fatima Director SOS Village said that her
organization encourages its children to pursue their higher
education and it is towards this end that SOS Children have
secured admission in NUST and UET Lahore. Hence this gesture of
National ICT R&D Fund will motivate and help our student to be
in a better position to prepare for the entrance exams.
Earlier Dr.
Syed Aun Abbas Zaidi CEO, National ICT R&D Fund while welcoming
the guests apprised them of objectives of the Fund. He said that
the real value lies in development Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) based human resource that can change the
dynamics of our economy. We need to put our act together to
change the socio-economic landscape of the country. Dr. Aun
appreciated the efforts and selfless contributions of the
charitable organizations.
